Common Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How is qualifying service calculated?

Qualifying service includes all reckonable service—regular service, training periods (in most cases), and any other service as per rules. Certain breaks or unauthorized absences may be excluded.

Q: My pension seems less than my batchmates. Why?

This could be due to different qualifying service, different pay at retirement, or calculation errors. We can verify your calculation against applicable rates.

Q: How do I claim family pension after my husband passed away?

Submit claim through the Record Office with death certificate, relationship proof, and pension documents. If facing delays or rejection, we can assist.

Q: When does commuted portion get restored?

After 15 years from the date of commutation, the commuted portion is restored, and full pension becomes payable.

Q: Can I claim pension arrears from 10 years ago?

Limitation periods apply. For AFT cases, generally one year. For administrative claims, three years for arrears. However, some cases may have longer windows. Consult us for specific advice.

Q: My father was declared missing in action. Can we get pension?

Yes. Special provisions exist for missing personnel families. Family pension and other benefits can be claimed after following prescribed procedure.
